Hells Gate Bass Club has Big Haul
Barry Smith of Possum Kingdom narrowly edged out Tony Thomas of Weatherford by 0.15 lb to capture the April Crown in the Hells Gate Bass Club Tournament. Both members had a 5 fish string over 24 lb. Mike Singletary nabbed 3rd place with 22.51 including Big Bass for the tourney of 7.18, in addition to claiming the 6 lb pot. Mark Allen & Bud Boenisch rounded out the Top 5. In all 32 members hauled in 70 bass with a total weight of 258.76 lb and an average weight of 3.70 lb. Fishing at P.K. is alive and well.
In the Year to Date Tournament Tony Thomas vaulted to the lead with 62.03 lb just ahead of Smith who has boated 59.86 lb, while Darrell Green weighed in 57.36 lb and the Big Bass of the year with his 10.25, caught at P.K. Mike Singletary grabbed the 4th spot & Mineral Well’s Don Welch has settled in 5th.
HGBC will be hosting a 2 Man Open Tournament on P.K. on April 22nd. Official check in and weigh in will be at South D & D. Early entry is $120 per team. Check in from 5 PM to 10.00 PM on Friday the 21st and from 5:00 AM onward on Saturday. $4,500 in cash and prizes guaranteed with 1st place of $1,500, based on 50 boat entry. Cash prizes through 5th place & 6th thru 15th place receive 2 Lew’s rods & reels. There is a $10 Big Bass pot optional. Entries will be accepted up until 6.30 AM the day of the tournament.
