Well, here it is already February and dang it, I’m late with the newsletter! Alright, just stretch me out over an ant hill.
Once again, a big hug out to Laurel and her crew for all the work and good food at The Awards Banquet; those of you not in attendance missed a great meal. Maybe next year we will have a bigger turnout.
Congrats to the 2012 Top Six comprised of Don Welch, Steve McCain, Bobby Koncak, Mike Hallford, John McCracken and Johnny Hicks. These who-dunnits are eligible for any Top Six tournaments the club may elect to participate in during 2013.
But, the smell of change is in the air as demonstrated by the results of the 2013 inaugural tournament held at PK on January 20th. Despite the presence of golden algae, Big Bud Boenisch said it ain’t nuthin but a thang and brought in a 5 bass limit that weighed 17.24 to run away with first place. Bud also garnered big bass honors with one that tipped the scales at 6.50. Way to go Bud!
Barry Smith took second with three solid fish that weighed 10.04 and Tony Wallace also weighed three swimmers for 8.90 to snatch the third slot. Good fishing guys!
If you didn’t already know, there has been a fish kill up in the north end of PK, as reported by TPWD. Lets hope it isn’t too widespread and goes way with the warming temps.
Keep in mind, the February tournament is at Hubbard Creek on Feb 17th, start at 6:00am and the weigh in is at the ramp by the dam at 3:00pm. So far as I know, we are sharing the area with just the Breckenridge club. Also; I hope the fishing improves for us, as the most recent tournament results indicated the fishing was kinda slow.
Next meeting is Monday nite, Feb 11 at 7:00pm and since this is the first real meeting of the year we will be discussing several topics of interest to the club, as well as selecting the March tournament location. Bring someone with you and lets get the membership numbers up, the more the merrier!
See ya’ll at the meeting or maybe on the water
